Spain: Two Suspected Daesh Supporters Arrested in Collaboration with Morocco’s DGST

The Spanish National Police announced on Monday the arrest in Catalonia of two individuals suspected of being members of the terrorist organization Daesh, during an operation carried out in collaboration with Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The suspects, aged 24 and 26, were arrested in Vallfogona de Balaguer, in northeastern Spain, for their alleged involvement in offenses related to the consumption and dissemination of terrorist propaganda and incitement to commit violent acts, according to a police statement.

The investigation, launched a year and a half ago, revealed that one of the suspects—already known to Spanish security services—was highly radicalized and played an active role in spreading terrorist content as well as in recruitment activities for the commission of terrorist attacks, the same source added.

Both individuals were brought before Central Investigating Judge No. 1, who ordered the pre-trial detention of the main suspect.

A police operation deployed on Thursday enabled their arrest and the seizure of various computer equipment during home searches, which are currently being analyzed, the statement concluded.
